2010 Tournament Schedule and 2009 recap

January 22nd, 2010

OGA would like to thank everyone who participated in a event in 2009. We had a great year considering we had a limited schedule and it was out first attempt at running professional golf tournaments in the greater Atlanta area. Here is a recap of 2009:

5 – Number of Open Professional Events Conducted

65 – Number of Unique Players to the Tour

24 – Average Players Per Event.

33 – Highest Number of Players

18 – Lowest Number of Players

$165 – Average Entry Fee

$14,441 – Amount of Prize Money Paid Out

Thank you to everyone who participated in our events in 2009. It was great seeing the support by the players at all of our events. And a big thank you to the host facilities who made it possible to hold events. It’s not easy to commit to a golf tour in it’s infancy without a history of participation. Without the help of the PGA professionals at our host clubs, Open Golf Atlanta flat out would not exist. Thank You.

In 2010 we are committed to running at least one OGA event per month from March through November. Our schedule is being finalized and will be up shortly.

Check back soon!

Open Golf Atlanta is proud to announce it’s next golf event, The Echelon Open, to be played at the Echelon Golf Club on October 27 2009.

EVENT ENTRY

From Echelon’s website:

When Rees Jones makes his mark on the landscape, whether it’s oceanfront, the desert or more traditional topography, accolades always follow. And not just for the beauty and challenge of the course itself. But also for his philosophy that’s evidenced by the preservation of the contour of the land, its natural elements and the views afforded from multiple, likely striking spots.

The course blends in perfectly over more than 600 acres of rolling hills in Alpharetta, Georgia, known more for its tranquil horse farms and lush polo fields than the striping of Tifsport tees and fairways and Bentgrass greens.

Says Jones, “Georgia has such a wonderful history in golf, and I’m glad to be able to contribute to another feather in its cap. The site of Echelon is especially appealing. The golf course that will challenge every level of player.”

With striking elevation changes and playing 7,558 yards from the back tees, the challenge is evident. But by offering five sets of tees on each hole, so is Echelon’s ability to level the playing field and keep the game fun and forgiving. For a course layout, click here.
