Keith Guest brings it home at The Georgia Club Wednesday with an impressive 18 holes of golf. The Athens native had quite a ride for the first 10 holes of his round. His day started with a bogey on the first hole. After a great birdie on 5, he made another bogey on 6. A par on seven must have calmed his nerves, because from there he went -4 on his next 3 holes with the help from a chip in eagle on the par 5 10th. A birdie on 15 was more then he needed to hold on from there and win by 2 shots over the rest of the field.
It was a special win for Keith for a few reasons. One, this is Keith’s first mini tour victory. “I have been at it [professional golf] for a year and a half, and its nice to finally get one under my belt.” Another reason is that his brother was on the bag. Keith will take home the 1st place prize of $1000 for his victory.
Other notables were PGA Tour member Brendon Todd, former University of Florida golfer Dalton Melnyk, and Berry University head golf coach Brian Farrer who all shot 71(-1) to come in a tie for second. Also amateur Randy White shot a great round of 72 (E) to finish 5th by himself and earn a $300 gift card to the pro shop at The Georgia Club.
A big thanks to Mike O’Malley and the entire Georgia Club staff. With their help we were able to run a terrific event and look forward to coming back.
